about us

Why HELLO DOLLY! ?

Several reasons – it is fun, feminine and can be said in many ways from cheeky to joyous exclamation. This covers the gambit of our repertoire which has a lot of light and shade and will move you whether it be a tingly spine or tapping toes. We were also inspired by a description written of the Broadway musical show “Hello Dolly” – “an ebullient and irresistible story of the joy of living, glittering with happy songs, shining with loving scenes, alive with the personality of one of the most fabulous characters on the musical stage..”  and that sums us up really!!

In the immortal words of Aretha Franklin – “we‘re coming out of the kitchen because there’s something we forgot to say to you -  Sisters are doin it for themselves! …”
Yes we are Mums with awesome families, households to run and meals to prepare but we also have plenty of life, love and laughter to share

Hello Dolly! are….

Ang Jackson

Ang comes from a family of musicians, and has been performing since she learned to talk!  During her school years she played the lead role in local plays and productions, relishing any chance to express her theatrical side.  Over the years Ang has been the life of many a party, entertaining family and friends, and creating fun environments for celebration.  What she lacks in technical training,  Ang makes up for in her energetic and enthusiastic approach to entertainment.
More recently Ang has formed a singing duo with her brother called Sibling Rivalry, performing covers, tributes and dance music in pubs and clubs in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Ang loves singing with Hello Dolly! because it gives her an opportunity to do something creative with her friends, while also bringing a little bit of joy to others.

Sara Tipper

Sara has been singing since the age of 16 covering a wide range of genres from gospel to musical theatre – her  favourite would have to be jazz/swing but she also has some classical training and has been in bands so loves to give anything a go! Sara has appeared in several musicals locally over the years including Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar and played the lead of Nancy in Oliver for Tauranga Musical Theatre. She is a past vocalist with the Tauranga Big Band.
Sara also enjoys song writing & arranging, most recently penning the team song “Heart Power Magic” for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic Netball Franchise. This girls passion is harmony and as part of  Hello Dolly! strives to reinvent familiar songs and to introduce the audience to something fresh and inspiring. “Music is such a powerful thing, it’s great singing with the girls especially those goosebump moments when we get the sound ‘just right’ “. Plus she can’t wait to play dress ups!

Taupaki Walker

Taupaki first discovered her passion for singing in 1990 when she toured around NZ & Australia with the youth band Y-ONE.  This experience gave her a taste of the performing arts, and she gained a great grounding in singing, choreography and production.  From there Tau continued to develop her talent, singing regularly at family events, functions, community and church gatherings.   Tau’s strength is in lead vocals, and she has a great ear for harmonies so she blends well on group arrangements, but her quick wit and slick moves are this Dolly’s signature!  Her love for singing, using her creative talent, and hanging out with the girls is what Taupaki enjoys most about being part of Hello Dolly!.
